Singing praises...

Recently God has laid it on our hearts to actually sing praises regularly, not just on Sunday morning.  We have discovered that youtube is a great place to search for and listen to worship songs, especially because many videos include the words.  

Through this we have grown in our appreciation of hymns... there is just something special about a song that has been sung by Christians for hundreds of years.  The hymn "Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken" by Henry Francis Lyte, 1793-1847 was one I had never heard of until recently.  

The third verse just resonates in our hearts specifically.

Go, then, earthly fame and treasure!

Come, disaster, scorn, and pain!

In Thy service, pain is pleasure;

With Thy favor, loss is gain.

I have called Thee Abba, Father!

I have stayed my heart on Thee.

Storms may howl, and clouds may gather,

All must work for good to me.

Now,  when we find our hearts dwelling on earthly things, we turn to praise God.
