Cutting the cable...

One thing we consistently try to do is look at our budget and look for any unnecessary expenses and see if we can get rid of them.  One unnecessary expense, albeit entertaining, has been cable.  We have had cable since we got married, but have always talked about cutting it.  The problem is we love sports... especially college football.  We always rationalized that we needed cable to watch sports and we have one or two shows we like.

Now that football season is over, we decided to give it a try, at least until we move sometime this summer.  So good bye watching tv just for kicks... and hello savings??? Andrew has already commented that he wishes we could just turn on ESPN... and I miss it as well, but I think it will be worth it.

We have kept Netflix (for $7.99 a month this beats cable hands down) and have pondered getting hulu plus.

So we are excited to see the savings!   And interested to see if any others have done this before... what are your thoughts???

  1. We did and haven't regretted it at all. But we also got lucky because when we plugged our TV into the wall we still got about 80 channels including ESPN. Try it, you never know!! Also, we have Hulu Plus and between it and Netflix, we never feel like we are missing anything!
