The Budgeting Diaries: My 5 most successful side hustles...

We are back with...

Now that we have made it to the other side of Christmas maybe you want/need to side hustle for a bit of extra money. Here are my top 5 ways I have made money on the side!

One

Facebook Sales Groups

I started selling on pages like these a little over two years ago. To be honest I had way too much baby girl clothes and I decided if she had not worn it or I did not like it... we did not need it. I would post piles of clothes. Then I started to look around the house for more stuff we did not need. That extra hair dryer, the two extra casarole dishes, the frames we were not using. I wish I had been keeping track of how much we have made over the past two years!
Two
eBay
I started selling things on eBay at about the same time I started selling to Facebook groups. I only use eBay for high end name brands. eBay is all about the name brand!

Three

Garage Sale

Things that don't sell in areas one and two? Combine that with anything else I have laying around the house and viola a garage sale! You can see some of my garage sale tips here.

Four

Odd jobs

Need a baby sitter? Pet sitter? I am your girl. I am not saying I can take any odd job... But where I can I will.

Five

Freelance Writing and Blogging

I have used elancenin the past and made money... I just have to make sure I have the time to put in to write the piece!
Ideally my blog would be making tons of money because that is what inenjoybdoing the most, but I am not quite there yet. I make a little here and there and get free products from time to time... But I mostly just enjoy writing.

What about you? Any other ways that I missed to make money on the side???

I have compiled a list of
10+1 things that I have learned from my first year as a mom
Really, this might be one of my favorite posts ever.  God has taught me so much this past year… and I know I still have a lot to learn! :)

two

Garage Sale this weekend!!! Hoping for success in selling a ton of junk we don't use anymore :).  If you are in the Augusta area you should stop by!

Reading through the Bible in a year… and a little behind on my Old Testament reading. That's okay, I am thoroughly enjoying the story of Joseph (Genesis 37-50… you should check it out!:)).  It amazes me when I read the Bible with excitement and not just out of duty. God teaches me so much.
Also... I found out HGTV is going a series (reality style like Duck Dynasty) on the Hatmaker family... Jen Hatmaker  is the author of 7... The Bible study I am doing right now. At first when I heard I had kind of mixed feelings, but I started to think God could really use this in big ways! Plus her writing is hysterical... So I hope her life is equally amusing :).

Oh preschool… I finally caught up on some of our happenings in this post.  And this week is Dr. Suess week and we did "Wacky Wednesday."  In a rush to get out the door, I completely forgot… teach fail. BUT when we got to school I dug through the school's supply of dress up clothes.  And found this gem.  Please tell me how jealous you are.  I mean I can wear a clown suit to my job… and it is totally okay!
The boots, I know they complete the outfit :)

BD's birthday is on the 23rd of this month!  And her party is on the 29th!  If you are in the Statesboro area you should get in touch with me and come! :)

5 on Friday...

Planning our first garage sale... and really excited!  I am on the hunt for pointers!  Let me know if you have any!

Read this great post about the benefits of cloth diapering! If you want to check out some great cloth diapering products, look here.  If you have questions, or want me to help you get started let me know!

The "snow storm" that hit Statesboro, if you can call it that left us with out power... and unprepared. BD HATES hats and gloves and can take them off in less than half the time it takes me to get them on her :).

We decided to head out to Florida to see my grandparents early so we wouldn't get to cold in our house.  We are also going to DISNEY Monday... we are excited!

The interesting thing about being at my grandparents is the lack of internet they have. I thought it would be free, but it feels frustrating... I never realized that almost any work I have to get done it almost always  requires internet.  School work, diaper consulting, blogging.  I can't decide if it is a negative thing that I feel frustrated about the lack of internet or just an understandable thing in light of the necessity of it with the nature of work today.

Did our first full week of 7 focused one food... here is some of what we learned...

Planning a Garage Sale… Part 1

My mother-in-law and I are having a garage sale on March 8th.  Now I have never really done a garage sale, except being present at the ones my mama did when I was little.  But If you know me, like any new adventure I take on, it always starts with research.

Considering I have not had a garage sale yet, taking advise from me *might* not be a good idea.
Soooooo… I created a pintrest board of other peoples pointers for garage sales.  Check it out HERE.
This way you can check out some… other people's ideas in one place.

On that note I do have some of the top reasons we are having a garage sale.

one
STUFF.  Too much of it.  Lately I have been overcome by the amount of stuff we have accumulated and it sickens me a little.

two
Also it gives someone a chance to reuse your stuff, thus not generating more stuff.

three
Quick way to generate some money.  Are you going to make a million bucks… no.  But it give you an opportunity to sell stuff that you aren't using anyway to make some money.

four
On the money note… it is an opportunity to give.  Andrew and I want to use a portion of our earnings to give to help fund another couple's adoption!

Are there any other reasons for doing a garage sale???
